We take a holistic approach to nutrition and dietetics; therefore you will study clinical skills alongside professionalism, education methods, communication skills, psychology, and public health. This is complemented with the development of practical skills through three clinical placements which take place in dietetic departments throughout the East Midlands and South Yorkshire. This means that you will be studying alongside your future colleagues, gaining valuable insights into your future career and benefiting from their expertise in different aspects of nutrition and dietetics. You will graduate with accreditation from The British Dietetic Association and approval from the Health and Care Professions Council, making you eligible to register as a dietitian in the UK.

Modules

In year one you will develop an understanding of the roles and skills required of a registered dietitian and study relevant science subjects including nutrition and biochemistry. You will undertake a short clinical placement, normally four weeks, in the summer vacation. In the second year you will continue to develop your background knowledge of basic and applied sciences, as well as practical and clinical skills. Year three explores various aspects including public health and research skills. A 12-week summer vacation placement develops core clinical skills. In your final year you will undertake an advanced dietetic practice module and your research project. A further 12-week clinical placement will consolidate your skills prior to applying for registration as a dietitian.
