Our Manufacturing Engineering HNC introduces a range of engineering fundamentals and business knowledge allowing you to improve existing manufacturing processes. You will also be exposed to management training and how to apply it to the production environment to become a multifaceted production manager.
As you progress through our modules, you’ll develop an understanding of engineering in different contexts, you’ll also learn about production engineering for manufacturing, as well as how to quality and process improvement. You’ll cover production, manufacturing, and other engineering modules and will be able to take your career in multiple directions.
You’ll broaden your understanding of design, maths, and product design, learning how these fields work in tandem in engineering. Progression from this course may include relevant employment, a Higher National Diploma (HND) or stepping into a senior position.
The course aims to:
• Develop skills in manufacturing and mechanical engineering.
• Encourage students to develop solutions to manufacturing and mechanical problems.
• Establish employability skills and develop a multi-tasking and multi-skills approach.
Knowledge of manufacturing engineering and systems is developed by:
• Understanding the general engineering industry and related work placements
• Examining historical, theoretical and ethical positions in response to engineering design
• Considering the relationship between traditional skills and developing technologies
• Being aware of the creative process of engineering design
A Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering opens a wide array of rewarding career options in various sectors. Graduates of this program are equipped with a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles and practical skills, making them valuable assets to industries that rely on innovation, design, and problem-solving. Each unit is worth 15 credits and over the course of the programme you will gain 120 credits.
6 hours for part-time course or 12 hours for full-time course.
Two years part-time with one full day attendance per week, or one year full-time with the equivalent of two full day attendance per week.
On successful completion you may progress with us to a HND at Level 5 and then, if desired, to a top-up Level 6 on a related undergraduate programme such as:
BEng Tech (Hons)
BSc (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Top-up)

Assessment methods
Coursework and Assignments:
You will be given specific projects or tasks related to coursework, and you will be evaluated on your ability to apply theoretical knowledge to practical problems.
Practical Work: Practical laboratory sessions are a crucial part of an electrical engineering program. Students may be assessed on their ability to conduct experiments, analyse data, and draw conclusions from their findings.
Reports and Technical Writing: You may be required to write technical reports based on laboratory work or projects, which will assess your ability to communicate technical information effectively.
Presentations: Students may be asked to give presentations on engineering topics, projects, or case studies.
Extensive use is made of computer modelling and simulation techniques and an emphasis is put on practical applications throughout.
