However, the grade achieved may be taken into account when results are published in August and may be used in a tie-break situation.

Successful completion of IB Diploma Programme with 34 points overall including 6,6,5 at Higher Level including Mathematics + Physics (preferred)/Biology/Chemistry.

Leaving Certificate - Higher Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017)

H2,H3,H3,H3,H3,H3

H2H3 (Mathematics + one from Physics (preferred|), Biology or Chemistry H3H3H3H3 including English. Joint Physics and Chemistry Higher Level is acceptable.

Successful completion of a relevant BTEC National Extended Diploma (180 credits at Level 3) with 160 credits at Distinction and 20 credits at Merit. Distinctions will be required in four specified units, including Mathematics for Technicians and Further Mathematics for Technicians.

Scottish Advanced Higher

A,A,B

Including Advanced Highers in Mathematics + one from Physics (preferred), Biology or Chemistry. Offers are normally made on the basis of a combination of the two Advanced Highers and two Highers.

The main objective of the Product Design Engineering degree is to produce graduates with a broad and balanced set of skills and attributes required for the design and manufacture of innovative technical products. The course has many modules in common with the Mechanical Engineering degree, particularly in the first year. From Year 2 there is a focus on design process and methodology developing professional competence in the identification of need, conception, design, analysis, materials and manufacturing requirements. The integrated curriculum is structured to connect content from different modules through team-based and individual projects which act as a core activity each year.

Want to work in a growing, creative sector where we are a world leader? Welcome to design! The UK has a proud reputation as a centre of design excellence, and last year just over 14,000 design degrees were awarded. At the moment, the jobs market looks a little better for fashion and textile designers, and not as good for multimedia or interactive designers — but that may change by the time you graduate. In general, design graduates are more likely than most to start their career in London, although that also varies by subject — last year fashion designers often found jobs in the North West, graphic designers in the South West, illustrators in the South West, East Anglia and Midlands, textile designers in the Midlands and the North West, and visual designers in Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Midlands. Design is also a good degree for people who want to work for a small business - more than half of graduates start at a small employer.
