About this course
This course has been developed in conjunction with local industry to help you develop the skills and knowledge to operate in the fast paced electrical engineering sector. With a wide range of local companies requiring electrical electronic engineering skills, this programme will develop your engineering principles knowledge, give you advanced practical skills and enable you to apply these in work-related projects to best prepare you for employment within the sector. In addition, you will attend industry visits, hear from industry professionals and have the chance to join the Engineering Council as a student member. You will be given the opportunity to work towards EngTech or IEng professional status with the Engineering Council, through a regulatory body. You will be offered the opportunity to visit various engineering companies throughout your studies to gain vital first-hand experience of how engineering theory is put into practice. This course will provide you with the necessary skills to gain employment in sectors requiring electrical and electronic engineers. Academic progression is available through our one-year BSc (Hons) Electrical Electronic Engineering (Top-Up) degree.
Modules
Year One: Academic Study Skills, Drawing Systems, ECAD, Electrical Science, Engineering Mathematics, Mechanical Science, Mechatronics, Personal Development or Recognition of Prior Learning, Work Related Learning. Year Two: Electrical Electronic Principles, Electronic Circuits, Engineering Design, Professional Development, Project Management Principles, Work-Based Learning. Year Three: Dissertation, Electrical Power Systems, Electrical Product Development, Electronics Embedded Systems Design.
Assessment methods
You will learn via lectures, seminars and workshops to prepare you for working both in teams and individually. Assessment is delivered through assignments, reports, simulations, portfolios, presentations and examinations.
