This is a **four year degree** taught at our Hope Park campus. The Foundation Year aims to develop your skills so that after a year, you will be equipped with the necessary skills needed for studying the full BA Hons degree programme.

**Early Childhood**
The early experience of children in today’s society is crucial to their future life experience. Early Childhood is receiving significant attention due to its importance for securing lifelong learning and development. The Early Childhood degree at Liverpool Hope allows you to study early holistic development from a local, national and international perspective. The widening gap nationally and internationally between advantaged and disadvantaged children clearly emphasises the implications of supporting children and their families in their early years.

The degree is taught by academics from a wide variety of backgrounds, including Sociology, Education, Philosophy and Psychology. The teaching team are all actively involved in research and have published in their specialist fields. They are all members of the thriving Liverpool Hope Childhood Research Forum and contribute to a range of research conferences both nationally and internationally.

**Geography**
Geography is about exploring, encountering and engaging with the world around us. It is a dynamic and exciting subject to study. It looks at how the physical world works; how people interact both with each other and with the physical world; how landscapes (both physical and human) evolve; and the
ways in which the environment needs to be conserved and managed.

Geography covers many different perspectives and brings them together to create a distinctive way of understanding the world. Whether your interests are more towards physical, environmental or human
geography, our degree offers you the chance to develop an integrated, enriched understanding of what is taking place on our planet. Studying Geography means you will look at a wide range of different topics and learn a broad range of skills. For this reason, a Geography degree is one of the most valued subjects among potential employers.

There are two options for geography studies: the one we're talking about here is physical geography (there is also an option for geography courses with a more human or social steer). Like a lot of sciences, quite a few graduates in physical geography — about one in five — go on to further study, mainly for one-year Masters courses, and not just in geography, but in environmental sciences, conservation and in courses where we don't have enough graduates like planning and surveying. And in the world of work, graduates often go into environment, surveying and heritage work - and teaching. These are well-rounded degrees that help graduates get a range of useful skills and so careers such as marketing, business analysis, sports and management are also popular and it's often easy to convert or retrain once you have a geography degree.
