Animal science

The programme will be of interest to anyone who wants to understand how animals’ function, common causes of disease and how to manage animal collections to optimise health and welfare. You will develop an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the theory that underpins animal health and welfare, which you are encouraged to put into practice by applying the theory you learn to propose solutions to commonly encountered management problems. During their studies, students will widen their vocational skill base equipping them to work effectively across a range of animal related professions, develop key contacts and gain valuable experience working with a wide variety of animals in a range of situations. This programme offers students the opportunity to gain specific practical hydrotherapy skills whilst developing a strong foundation in applied animal science.

Modules

The foundation year includes lectures in animal, study skills, science and or management, depending upon an individual’s previous academic background. Within the year, you will be supported to enhance your skills and knowledge to ensure you are fully prepared to succeed in year 1.
