We welcome A Levels in a wide range of subjects, especially in those relevant to the course for which you apply.
We may consider a standalone AS in a relevant subject, if it is taken along with other A Levels and if an A Level has not been taken in the same subject. However, you will not be disadvantaged if you do not have a standalone AS subject as we will not ordinarily use them in our offers.

UCAS Tariff
A typical offer is between 104 and 120 UCAS points for entry to undergraduate courses, primarily from Level 3 equivalent qualifications such as A levels, a BTEC Extended Diploma or a Foundation Diploma. Due to the creative nature of our courses, you will be considered on your own individual merit and potential to succeed. We encourage you to get in touch if you are predicted points below this range, thinking about transferring from another institution, or if you have other qualifications or professional experience as we may be able to consider you. If English is not your first language, we accept a range of recognised language qualifications that are equivalent to the IELTS Academic minimum score of 6.0 overall, with a minimum of 5.5 in Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening. If you require a Tier 4 student visa to study in the UK, you must take an approved Secure English Language Test (SELT) to fulfil government visa requirements.

About this course
Engaging, visually exciting and functional user experiences are more important than ever for the fashion industry, and having a bad online experience can result in less customers or users. With our BA (Hons) UX/UI for Retail degree you’ll develop the essential technology and creative skills to create user experiences that are intuitive, engaging and cultivate brand loyalty. User experience (UX) design focuses on the usability and function of a platform, as well as how users interact with it, while user interface (UI) design focuses on the aesthetics and construction of what the user sees, taking concepts to the final, customer-facing product. This is a brand-new course created in collaboration with industry to give students the most up-to-date knowledge and skills.
Through lectures, seminars, tutorials, workshops and projects, you’ll develop the essential design, storytelling and communication skills needed to succeed in a fashion focused UX/UI design role.
You will:
- Learn the technical skills needed to create and implement innovative user experience strategies
- Be assigned a personal industry mentor to work with throughout the course
- Develop your practical skill set and learn advance UX/UI design skills such as prototyping, A/B testing and design accessibility
- Explore the creative and analytical aspects of user experience and user interface roles, and understand how they relate to each other
- Learn how to use software used by industry, including Adobe XD and Figma
- Work on live projects set by our brand partners and complete work placements with our industry partners
- Learn how to adopt a design mindset and create innovative solutions for problems faced by users
- Gain a comprehensive insight into the theory and practice of design and learn how to apply this to your work
- Complete a self-directed Personal Professional Project that allows you to demonstrate your skills and knowledge

Throughout the course you’ll develop the technical, design, analytical and creative skills needed for a career in UX/UI design. You’ll learn through a mix of classes and lectures, individual study, creative projects and industry enrichment that is integrated throughout the course in the form of masterclasses, live projects, mentorship schemes and work placements.
Year One
The first year of study is about learning the difference between User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) design and understanding how both areas work together to create vital user experiences that ensure businesses meet their goals. You’ll explore the fundamental practices and skills of both roles and develop your practice in this emerging area of the industry, as well understand the environmental, social and ethical impacts of UX/UI design.

Year Two
In your second year of study, you’ll explore how emerging technology and future design principles are changing consumer connectivity and learn how to build storytelling into the development process. You’ll develop advance UX/UI design skills including prototyping, wireframing, A/B testing and design accessibility. You’ll undertake an individual project that allows you to showcase your professional knowledge and skills. For the live project you’ll work with a brand, focusing on branding and communication strategies.
