Birkbeck’s BSc Management is ideal if you are aspiring to become a team leader or join senior management within the area in which you work. It will equip you with the skills required to flourish within the rapidly changing environment in which organisations operate and compete and become a confident manager or business practitioner. You will gain an insight into a broad range of management issues in key areas such as:
- strategic management
- marketing
- finance
- project and operations management
- human resource management
- accounting
- managerial economics.
This management degree attracts a wide range of people, including those interested in or working as administrators, clerical workers and managers from both the public and private sectors, as well as self-employed people and those wishing to gain specific knowledge of management and business.
We combine lectures delivered by reputable experts in their field with tutorial/seminar sessions which give you a chance to interact with your peers and develop insights into analysing and interpreting a wide range of business decisions. We often use real-life case studies and guest speakers from the industry to help you gain the knowledge and practical skills required from the job market, in any private or public organisation.
Teaching on this BSc Management is flexible to respond to the needs of our students. Birkbeck is known for its evening teaching. From autumn 2024, this programme has the option of daytime or evening study.
If you opt for the Foundation Year route, this will fully prepare you for undergraduate study. It is ideal if you are returning to study after a gap, or if you have not previously studied the relevant subjects, or if you didn't achieve the grades you need for a place on your chosen undergraduate degree.

- You will have access to Moodle, our online learning resource, where all information and materials relating to your programme of study and modules are available, as well as the Birkbeck Library and e-Library.
- Full-time students have the option of choosing daytime teaching that involves two to three days' attendance on campus with all classes taking place after midday. You will have access to high-quality online learning resources and can study and complete the course by attending during the day. Once you’ve applied through UCAS and have received your offer from us, we will contact you by email so you can let us know your afternoon or evening study preference.
