Multimedia computing science

esigned for individuals with more than one field of interest, through this course you can study a combination of visual art disciplines. With emphasis on making and thinking, you’ll cover a range of subjects.

The first year of the course is structured and project based; you’ll be taught in a shared studio or workshop with academic and technical staff. You’ll learn new practical skills as well as developing those you already have.

As the course progresses, we’ll encourage you to explore your own individual studio practice in the areas of study you choose. You’ll benefit from support and encouragement from staff who are practitioners in their specialist fields. In addition you’ll have access to the range of technical facilities the School of Art and Design offers.
Creative Computing is for inquisitive people who don’t necessarily fit the model of typical degree subjects. These are practical, imaginative individuals who wish to explore how computing can enhance human creativity. We understand that such people aspire to be both the ‘thinkers’ and the ‘makers’, so have designed a course to help them become just that.

What do graduate employment figures really tell you?

There are a lot of computing courses out there, and they vary a lot in content, modules and the way they work with employers, so individual courses can have very different outcomes. This is a course where you really need to get a good grade — employers really pay attention to the class of your degree and a low grade will serious hit your prospects. But you can get a job on pretty much any industry in the country with a computing degree - and organisation with an IT system and a web site needs graduates in this discipline - and many employers report difficulty in finding graduates. So most students do get jobs, and starting salaries are good, particularly in London.
