Wrth ddewis astudio’r cwrs BA Llenyddiaeth a Hanes Cymru ym Mhrifysgol Aberystwyth byddi’n dewis astudio cwrs unigryw ac arloesol a ddysgir ar y cyd gan ddwy adran uchel eu bri sef Adran y Gymraeg a’r Adran Hanes a Hanes Cymru. Wrth ddilyn y cwrs hwn byddi’n cael dy ddysgu gan staff sydd yn arloesi yn eu meysydd. Mae’r cynllun gradd Llenyddiaeth a Hanes Cymru yn gwrs Anrhydedd Sengl amlddisgyblaethol unigryw ac arloesol. Mae gan Gymru draddodiad llenyddol cyfoethog sy’n ymestyn yn ôl i ganol y mileniwm cyntaf, ac mae llenyddiaeth wedi chwarae rhan gyson a chanolog yn niwylliant Cymru.
O astudio’r cwrs hwn byddi’n astudio datblygiad llenyddiaeth Gymraeg mewn cyd-destun hanesyddol ac yn edrych ar y berthynas rhwng llenyddiaeth a hanes o sawl safbwynt gwahanol. Byddi’n ymchwilio i’r ffyrdd cyffrous y gellir defnyddio’r testunau llenyddol eu hunain er mwyn deall y gorffennol.
Rhennir y gwaith dysgu rhwng yr Adran Hanes a Hanes Cymru ac Adran y Gymraeg, dwy adran a enillodd glod am eu gwaith dysgu ac ymchwil yn eu priod feysydd.
Bwriad modiwlau’r flwyddyn gyntaf yw rhoi sail eang o wybodaeth wrth i ti baratoi i astudio’n ddwysach yn yr ail a’r drydedd flwyddyn. Mae rhychwant eang o fodiwlau ar gael iti ddewis o’u plith yn y ddwy adran.
Yn ystod yr ail a’r drydedd flwyddyn cei ddewis modiwlau a fydd yn datblygu’r egwyddorion a ddysgwyd gen ti yn y flwyddyn gyntaf. Yn yr Adran Hanes a Hanes Cymru cei ddewis o fodiwlau sy’n cynnwys ‘Cymru a’r Tuduriaid 1530-1603’, ‘Cymdeithas a Diwylliant Cymru 1660-1800’ a ‘Hanes Cenedlaetholdeb yn Ynysoedd Prydain’. Mae enghreifftiau o’r dewis a gynigir gan Adran y Gymraeg yn cynnwys ‘Barddoniaeth yr Ugeinfed Ganrif’, ‘Rhyddiaith a Drama 1900-1990’ a ‘Beirniadu Llenyddiaeth’.
Fel myfyriwr Anrhydedd Sengl cei gymryd Pynciau Hanes Arbennig, ac ysgrifennu traethawd hir y flwyddyn olaf yn y naill adran neu’r llall, yn dibynnu ar y pwnc y byddi’n ei ddewis a dy ddiddordebau penodol. Bydd llawer o raddedigion yr Adran Hanes a Hanes Cymru yn mynd i weithio mewn meysydd sy’n uniongyrchol berthnasol i’r pwnc, fel archifau, y diwydiant treftadaeth ac amgueddfeydd, tra bydd eraill yn cael gwaith mewn amrywiaeth o feysydd proffesiynol eraill. Mae’r meysydd hynny’n cynnwys newyddiaduraeth, y cyfryngau, hysbysebu, y gyfraith, llywodraeth leol, llyfrgellyddiaeth, rheoli cofnodion, amrywiaeth o swyddi sy’n ymwneud ag ymchwil, ysgrifennu’n broffesiynol, yr heddlu a’r gwasanaeth milwrol, cysylltiadau cyhoeddus a rheoli adnoddau dynol.

What do graduate employment figures really tell you?History is a very popular subject (although numbers have fallen of late) — in 2015, over 10,000 UK students graduated in a history-related course. Obviously, there aren't 11,000 jobs as historians available every year, but history is a good, flexible degree that allows graduates to go into a wide range of different jobs, and consequently history graduates have an unemployment rate comparable to the national graduate average. Many — probably most — jobs for graduates don't ask for a particular degree to go into them and history graduates are well set to take advantage. That's why so many go into jobs in the finance industry, human resources, marketing, PR and events management, as well as the more obvious roles in education, welfare and the arts. Around one in five history graduates went into further study last year. History and teaching were the most popular further study subjects for history graduates, but law, journalism, and politics were also popular postgraduate courses.
