From the moment you arrive at the Aberystwyth Business School, we will work with you to build on your skills and experience to enhance your career prospects. During your time with us you will have the opportunity to get the job experience within the big institutions such as the County Council as a part of your third year module Employability Skills for Professionals' which is an amazing opportunity to learn more about the industry sector and network with the potential future employers. You will have an opportunity to undertake a work placement or internship through the AberForward scheme, which is a paid internship within Aberystwyth University. As well as take a Year in Employment (YES) placement, which is a yearlong payed internship within the external industries between your second and third year. We have a dedicated team within the Careers Department to advice, and help you during both your application period and during your placement. Moreover, you can work and network with employers from a range of national and multi-national companies through our visiting speaker programme, and take part in International Exchange Programmes.

Want to join a fast-moving, diverse industry that's at the cutting edge of tech? Try marketing! A lot of the jobs are in London, but graduates don't just go to work in advertising agencies — all sorts of industries do their own marketing these days, and with the rise of digital and mobile technology, a lot of marketing is done in quite innovative ways using a wide range of methods. Common industries (apart from advertising and PR) include recruitment, online retail, higher education, banking and IT. What do graduate employment figures really tell you?

You don't have to be an accountant if you take this degree, but over half of graduates take a look at the rewards on offer for accountancy trainees and go into the job. Many others go into other parts of the finance industry as advisors or book-keepers, and some go into management or marketing. London is very popular for accountancy graduates going into their first job, but it's also quite common to work in Scotland, with Glasgow a perennial hotbed of Scottish accountancy recruitment. If you want to find a job in finance as an accountancy graduates, recruitment agencies were particularly important last year, so try to get in touch with one as soon as you can to improve your chances.

Over 2,000 students graduated with a degree in finance in 2015, and a sign of the strength of the finance industry, numbers are on the up. Over half of finance graduates go into the finance industry, with accountancy and financial advice roles particularly popular. It's also quite common for finance graduates to go into jobs which require you to take more training and gain professional qualifications — finance graduates who take further study are more likely to be studying accountancy than finance.
