Want to study a creative course such as art or music or just fancy going to a university with a strong creative scene? Find out from current students which universities across the UK come out on top for 'creativity'.

We surveyed almost 10,000 current students to find out first-hand how they rate their university on a whole range of characteristics, including creativity, sports and students' union nightlife. By creative we're talking things like dance, art, music and theatre playing a prominent part in uni life. Here are the results - plus a little taster of what each uni could offer you...

1. Arts University Bournemouth

Did you know...

  • Bournemouth has various theatres and galleries, with the Pavillion hosting regular performances by AUCB students
The uni has a large greenery area where often you'll hear someone on the guitar providing music for the scene. The arts bar next to the gallery is also a popular area. First Year Photography Student

2. Goldsmiths, University of London

Did you know...

  • Goldsmiths' Students' Union has a wide range of creative clubs including the Musical Theatre society and the Ukulele society
  • The University has its own centre (named after famous playwright Harold Pinter, its Honorary President) dedicated to creative writing and performance

3. Falmouth University

Did you know...

  • Falmouth is a member of the Skillset Media Academy – meaning that Media students can take advantage of industry links with big names including the BBC, ITV and and Sky Sports
  • The Poly in Falmouth is a favourite with students, as a great place to go to watch new pieces of theatre, music acts, comedy nights or independent films

4. University of the Arts London

Did you know...

  • You will have the opportunity to take on small paid jobs for the SU if you sign up to their Creative Team, giving you great experience and exposure of your art work
When it comes to art spaces the university has a lot to offer. Every college has space for students’ art and exhibitions. First Year Media Student

5. Bath Spa University

Did you know...

  • There are plenty of dance societies to choose from, including hip-hop, samba, Latin and ballroom
  • The School of Music and Performing Arts has a new arts centre where students can put on regular shows, often in partnership with guest artists

6. University of Cambridge

Did you know...

  • You might want to follow in the footsteps of stars including David Baddiel, Stephen Fry and Emma Thompson and join the Footlights Dramatic Club, the university’s comedy troupe

7. University of Oxford

Did you know...

  • The Oxford Art Movement is a society for students of all artistic abilities to experiment with art or simply relax, making the most of the facilities and materials they can offer

8. De Montfort University

Did you know...

  • The union runs a number of dance societies including the Hip Hop Troupe, where students can get involved in flash mobs around the university
  • Through SU Volunteering, you can get involved in a number of arts and culture projects in the local Leicester area

9. University of St Andrews

Did you know...

  • At St. Andrews Craft Society (winner of ‘Best New Society’ last year), you can make something new each week - anything from embroidery to felt animals
  • Drama plays a big part of uni life, with opportunities in musicals, films, plays, readings, workshops, dance and student writing
