The SU bar (called CH1) is a really nice space. It's not huge, but it does house two rooms, each with its own bar. It can get very busy however, particularly on SU Fridays - I took to avoiding these occasions and heading to a quieter pub where you could at least reach the bar! This is to be expected though, and I have to say, some of the prices are very good - 50p for most shots, for example, caught my immediate attention! The gym is great. Again, this can get quite busy, but if you're a morning person like me, you'll find that it's very calm and quiet at 7 am. The prices aren't bad - my student loan covered gym membership and my accommodation and living costs very comfortably, with much to spare, though I suppose I do economise quite well and do get the full loan and grants. Still, there is a decent discount if you pay for the full academic year in advance - and this may help you to keep it up as well. A nice place to sit with a drink and some friends on a sunny day is the grassy area near the SU bar, next to the football field and across from Seaborne Library.
