Entry requirements


You should have completed your Level 3 studies achieving the equivalent of at least two A levels (grade E or above) or a pass in a BTEC diploma programme or its equivalent. You should also have level 2 qualifications in English and Maths, either functional skills at level 2 or GCSE grade 4 or above. The college welcomes applications from students with relevant work experience who do not have the formal academic qualifications, and from students with disabilities.

From exciting new developments in equine microbiology, nutrition and reproduction through to advances in biotechnology; if you aspire to a career in equine science, research or clinical practice, then our BSc (Hons) in Equine Science is the course for you. Offering a rich and varied syllabus that explores equine science from both clinical and welfare perspectives, the course facilitates the development of real world professional skills and knowledge essential to those wishing to work in a clinical or scientific context. Whilst focusing on equine systems, the modules taught are specially designed to deliver competence in transferable skills with relevance to a wide range of biological and animal science career paths.

This comprehensive programme covers all aspects of equine science to provide students with the key knowledge and skills to enter the equine science industry. The majority of the modules on the programme are 'Core' modules; however, in your final year there are three optional modules to choose one from, which will allow you to tailor this year to your specific interests.

The Foundation phase of the course is integrated and is studied across the first two years of the programme. You will study additional modules alongside core level 4 course modules. In the first year you will be supported to develop scientific knowledge of anatomy and physiology through the development of a learning toolkit portfolio. You will also engage with applied learning that links your academic studies to professional practice. In your second year you will be given individual supervision to enhance your independent learning skills as you progress through the courses.

This course is validated in partnership with Coventry University.
