Animal behaviour

The animal sciences are a diverse and exciting range of disciplines, underpinning many sectors of the animal industry. This is the course for you if you want a career in science and have ambitions to work with animals, whether your interest be in companion animals, livestock, exotic species or wildlife.

Our BSc (Hons) Animal Science provides you with the skills and knowledge you need for a range of exciting career options. Our course is structured to ensure that you are able to flavour your studies to reflect your interests and improve your employability in specialist sectors. You might choose, for example, to broaden your knowledge on animal breeding and nutrition or opt for a wildlife ecology route. Whatever your animal career ambitions, our course can be tailored to meet your needs.

Assessment methods

Each module has its own specific assessment profile, for example 100% Coursework or 50% coursework and 50% written examination. Modules are assessed using a variety of methods (real life case studies, professional projects, laboratory practical investigations, reports and essays, presentations and video documentaries, research dissertation) thus allowing students to develop a range of skills related to the subject area and to build confidence in the subject and in themselves.
