The study of mathematics is fascinating and challenging, and the skills it develops are in demand in a variety of exciting professional careers in accountancy, finance, banking, investment, business and IT. The programme provides you with the opportunity to develop your knowledge, understanding, technical skills and confidence to operate successfully in an international and globalised work environment. You study a number of compulsory modules to ensure you have a strong understanding of key topics. In your final year, you select from a range of optional modules to allow you to tailor your degree studies to your interests. At each level, the programme aims to introduce you to the major branches of mathematics in order to develop your understanding of the coherence, logical structure and broad applicability of mathematics. You develop your awareness of the values of research and scholarship in mathematics and your capabilities of using the tools and resources available to you. The programme develops your ability to abstract and generalise, to model various phenomena and to interpret numerical data. The skills of problem solving, rigorous argument and communication are cultivated so that your skills meet the needs of employers.
