This course will provide you with a systematic understanding of the field of computer networks, encompassing a range of perspectives including: the underlying principles of how they, and associated technologies, work; the way these principles are put into practice in industry-standard network products; and the practical aspects of running a mission-critical network within real organisations.

Modules

Year 1: introduction to computers and network systems; web content creation; communications technologies in context; database systems; introduction to windows programming; professional development and practices. Year 2: mobile and internet television streaming; principles and concepts of network technologies; local area networks; digital communication systems group design project; mobile networking and network simulation; system administration. Year 3: routing operations and protocols; the wan and global networks; infrastructure management; internet security and computer forensics; project for computer networks.
