This three-year accredited course covers topics such power generation and distribution, electrical machines, power electronics, power quality, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and industrial drive processes, as well as relevant subjects covering control, programming and signal processing. The MEng will enable you to study subjects at an advanced level and you will learn from managers and engineers in industry. You will gain the practical, professional and transferable skills required to work in industry. Our internationally recognised research has attracted industrial collaboration and you will be taught by people at the cutting-edge of these technologies. You will have the opportunity to undertake a year-long placement in industry.
All students follow a common programme in year one and you will study modules such as Computer Engineering, Engineering Analysis, Power and Energy and Information Systems. In year two, you will continue to improve your understanding of electrical and electronic engineering, and your design skills will be developed through a variety of laboratory-based subjects. In year three, you will be able to choose from a range of specialist topics including modules such as Power Networks, Electronic Design and Digital Communications as well as undertaking a third-year project and Business Planning for Engineers.
