A level
The University will not necessarily make conditional offers to all Access candidates but will continue to assess them on an individual basis. If we make you an offer, you will need to obtain/pass the overall Access to Higher Education Diploma and may also be required to obtain a proportion of the total level 3 credits and/or credits in particular subjects at merit grade or above.
GCSE/National 4/National 5
Applicants should have a grade B or 6 GCSE (or other suitable equivalent qualification) in a second language as well as grade C or 4 in Mathematics GCSE or a suitable equivalent level qualification.
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme
Applicants should have either an overall grade of 34 or 15 points at higher level.
Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)
The University will consider applicants holding BTEC National Diploma and National Extended Diploma Qualifications (QCF; NQF; OCR) on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us for further advice on your individual circumstances. A typical offer would be to achieve Distinction, Distinction, Merit.
Scottish Higher qualifications are considered on an individual basis.

About this course
French is one of the most beautiful romance languages. Outside of France it is spoken as far afield as Canada, the Seychelles, Madagascar and Mali. It is one of the official languages of the United Nations, and an important language in the EU. A working knowledge of the French language, and of French culture, will give you a head start in the business world. Combining Management with French enables you to gain a deeper understanding of European business, which is an ideal option for those considering an international career.
We offer you the opportunity to spend a year studying or working abroad in a French-speaking country, where you can experience the language and business culture first hand, make some useful contacts and practise your French language skills.
The Management programmes at Kent aim to develop a new kind of business professional for the 21st century, as alive to their social responsibilities to the community as to the needs of their investors, shareholders and employers.
The modules in Management develop your leadership skills in relation to decision making, problem solving, team working, negotiation and employee performance management. You gain the skills and knowledge essential for managing key areas of organisations, including accounting, human resources, quantitative methods, marketing, strategy and operations. You also develop an understanding of the role and interrelationship between strategic management, human resource management and operations management.
So this joint honours programmes gives you the benefits of cultural understanding of a humanities degree, language skills, and business knowledge for the world of work, equipping you for an international career.

What do graduate employment figures really tell you?It's often said the UK doesn't produce enough modern language graduates, and graduates from French courses have a lot of options available to them when they complete their courses. About one in five working graduates from 2015 got jobs overseas — often as English teachers — which is much higher than for most subjects. Those who want to stay at home to work find jobs in education, and anywhere where good communication skills are a must. That means you can find French graduates in education, in marketing, in the arts and in business and finance as teachers, writers, personnel officers, financial advisors, analysts, sales people and marketers. But remember — whilst employers say they rate graduates who have more than one language, you need to have them as part of a whole package of good skills.
