IB – 72 points from a minimum of 2 HL subjects at H4 or above.

All JH entry points are determined by the requirements of the subject with the higher entry tariff and dependent on other entry requirements for that subject The University of Hertfordshire is committed to welcoming students with a wide range of qualifications and levels of experience. However, we have a flexible approach to admissions and each application will be considered on an individual basis. All students from non-majority English speaking countries require proof of English language proficiency, equivalent to an overall IELTS score of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each band. If you do not have the required IELTS or equivalent for direct entry on to your degree programme, our Pre-sessional English and International Foundation courses can help you to achieve this level.

Human geography

The study of Human Geography and Sports Studies provides an interdisciplinary programme of study gaining a range of spatial and business skills. Modules include the geographies of governance, sustainable futures and investigative skills and techniques, students may then choose to major in one subject from year 2 or remain on a joint pathway studying modules that look the changing world. Studying Sports Studies allows students to study sports development and how this is managed. The combination of both Human Geography and Sports Studies provides different perspectives as to responses to the challenges and changes of the modern world.

What do graduate employment figures really tell you?

One of the fastest growing subjects in the country, the number of sports science graduates went from under 3,000 in 2003 to over 10,000 in 2013. Numbers have fallen slightly since 2015, but we still have over 9,000 graduates in the subject. However, the good news is the country's appetite for good health and fitness - and the adaptability of graduates in the subject - means that sports science grads are less likely than average to be out of work. Sports science graduates, not surprisingly, tend to get jobs in sport, fitness and health - coaching and teaching especially - but they're found all over the economy. Management and business are also popular options for graduates from this subject — and sports science graduates are particularly found where drive, determination and physical fitness are an advantage.
