Course description

Biochemistry is concerned with all molecular aspects of life, from the synthesis of proteins to the interventions made to treat disease. You will learn about advances at the forefront of international research on the structure-function relationships of biomolecules. You will see how our staff are using state-of-the art structural, spectroscopic and computational approaches to view the molecular machinery of an organism. We provide exciting opportunities throughout the course to develop the necessary skill sets of the modern-day biochemist through tailored laboratory and in silico practicals, and offer final year research projects that allow for real world problems to be investigated. It's an exciting time to be part of this fascinating area of study. Located in the School of Biological Sciences, we are one of the largest schools at the University. Two-thirds of our research is rated "world-leading" or "internationally excellent" (REF 2014).
