During your Foundation Entry Year you will study alongside peers from related courses, whilst you gain a broad introduction to social care. Youll benefit from our excellent learning experience exploring a broad range of settings for working with people and communities. We offer extensive opportunities to make a difference through work experience, entrepreneurial and research openings. With a strong commitment to strength-based education, you'll have excellent levels of support as you undertake your educational journey. Teaching is influenced by the real world experience of the lecturing staff, our partners in practice, and service user participation, as well as the research interest of the course team. You will be able to undertake a placement during Year 2 to help prepare you for the workplace. You will also have the chance to experience some of the ways in which counselling and psychotherapy are delivered abroad (i.e. an opportunity for international study). Our graduates can work in a variety of fields. Some will wish to continue on to train as a counsellor and psychotherapist by undertaking the Postgraduate Diploma/MA in Integrative Psychotherapy (BACP Accredited); some wish to pursue work in the field of Mental Health by working as Psychological Well-being Practitioners (PWPs); some pursue work by training as Registered Nurses in Mental Health, General Adult or Child branches; others pursue work by training to be Social Workers (the MA in Social Work); whilst others pursue a range of employment opportunities working with people in other ways.
