**Early Childhood Overview**

The early experience of children in today’s society is crucial to their future life experience. Early Childhood is receiving significant attention due to its importance for securing lifelong learning and development. The widening gap nationally and internationally between advantaged and disadvantaged children clearly emphasises the implications of supporting children and their families in their early years. Studying Early Childhood with Liverpool Hope allows you to explore early holistic development from a local, national and international perspective.

You will be taught by academics from a wide variety of backgrounds, including Sociology, Education, Health and Psychology. The teaching team are all actively involved in research and have published in their specialist fields.

They are all members of the thriving Liverpool Hope Childhood Research Forum and contribute to a range of research conferences both nationally and internationally. This experience provides an informed and supportive learning environment for the student characterised by depth and challenge.

**Information Technology Overview**

Information Technology is a rapidly changing and exciting subject. Organisations are increasingly relying on information technology to carry out key business functions. There is an explosion in the use of mobile devices to shop online and there is a high demand for skilled professionals who are able to effectively manage information systems. Well-designed software applications that are
effective and usable is a crucial requirement for employers.

Information Technology prepares you to meet the needs of a wide range of organisations, emphasising the development of a variety of technologies, especially web and mobile technologies that are increasingly becoming a part of our everyday lives. During your studies, you will have opportunities to develop computational thinking and a systems approach to formulating, analysing and solving complex problems.

Information Technology as a subject is intellectually challenging and is taught by staff with a varied background and a diverse range of interests. Your student experience is enhanced by a rich curriculum that exposes you to multiple approaches to technological problems. Information Technology has a wide-reaching social impact, posing many ethical questions, and these issues are explored at various points during the degree.

**Mode of Delivery**

This is a full time course taking three years to complete and is delivered by a combination of face-to-face sessions, online sessions, and independent study. The face-to-face sessions are normally between 6pm-9pm on no more than two evenings per week, one evening per week for each of your two subjects at St Mary’s College. Online learning will allow more flexibility of location and may allow flexibility of timing.

In addition to lectures, seminars and workshops for your subject, there are support sessions to assist with academic writing, referencing, careers preparation and library skills.

On top of teaching hours, you are also expected to study independently for 30 hours each week, 15 hours for each subject, as well as studying in groups to prepare for any group assessments you may have.
