Marketing and advertising are often combined, with practitioners and creative teams creating impactful campaigns across many channels and media. This degree blends marketing fundamentals with specialist units in advertising, equipping you with sought-after skills for a varied career after graduation.

The course has a unique focus on advertising - an industry which has to move swiftly to capitalise on new and emerging advertising channels and rapid improvements in demographic targeting technology.

You’ll cover core areas such as marketing principles, advertising account management, agency simulation, creative concept development and market research skills. These are complemented by studies in data analysis, digital marketing and media strategies. You’ll also explore how to gain consumer insight through market research.

Employability is embedded into the curriculum. Throughout the course you’ll be encouraged to network with professionals - vital for a successful future career in advertising and marketing communications. The course team also has strong links with industry. These can provide opportunities for you to interact with employers through guest lectures and live briefs. Links with employers also help ensure the course remains up to date and meets current industry requirements.

During your studies you’ll have the opportunity to undertake additional professional qualifications. These include the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and the Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing (IDM). The degree also helps you to develop key transferable skills as an individual and within a team. These skills will enable you to be adaptable in today’s fast-moving job market.
