About this course
Our innovative Career Degree offers those interested in issues of how crime is defined, perceived as a problem and managed in modern society, an opportunity to undertake a comprehensive study of this area. It looks at the widespread and growing interest in crime, the nature of crime in society, theories of crime and the nature/function of the main criminal justice agencies. This qualification is validated by the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) and is part of Runshaw College's suite of Career Degrees®, offering additional industry related qualifications to enhance the employability of our graduates.
Modules
Year 1 Modules include: (Level 4) Key Thinkers in Criminology (CJ1102), Gangs and Gun Culture (VO1009), Keeping Custody – the UK Prison System (PL1307), Introduction to Criminal Process and Procedure (CJ1005), Substance misuse and crime, Criminal Extremism, Human Trafficking. Year 2 Modules include :(Level 5) Doing Social Research (SS2001), Media and Crime (CJ2003), Serial Murder (PL2007), Criminal Law, Preparing for Work in Criminal Justice, Sex and Crime, Domestic abuse - (option module).
