Joint Honours degrees give you the maximum flexibility to study subject areas that genuinely interest you. You’ll be able to shape your study according to your strengths, interests and career ambitions. Global Studies will give you the opportunity to focus on developing an understanding of social, cultural and political changes and how this affects global trends and tensions. Whilst our Spanish course will enable you to develop rapid language skills within the written and spoken language of Spanish as you explore contemporary Spanish and Latin American culture, society and politics. Spanish at NTU is in the UK's Top 20 for student satisfaction (NSS 2019).

GLOBAL STUDIES at NTU allows you to focus on developing an understanding of the global dimensions of social and cultural change and political and economic issues. You’ll investigate a variety of world views surrounding intercultural communications, globalised media and world cities. You’ll gain a well-rounded knowledge of the global dimensions which affect social, cultural, political and economic issues. The course investigates the inequalities that are posed and are being posed into developing countries and through this you'll recognise global trends and tensions. This diverse course will allow you to engage with the world as a global citizen whilst supplying you with the tools to succeed in the growing international workplace. SPANISH at NTU can be studied as a beginner course or as a post A-level (you will need A-level Spanish to study this level). The course has been designed to offer you a rapid progress in the Spanish language and an in-depth knowledge of the cultures and societies in which it is spoken in. You'll explore contemporary Spanish and Latin American cultures, politics and society. You will gain a comprehensive understanding of the countries culture as well as develop a high level of language proficiency. In Year Three you will have the opportunity to spend time working or studying in Spain or South America. Our partner universities include; Alcalá, Avila, León, Madrid, Salamanca, Murcia, Granada, Valencia, Oviedo, the Basque Country and Santiago (Chile). This language course will enhance your reading and listening skills as you'll be taught using the latest language-teaching methodologies and CALL technologies and be given access to our fantastic language resource centres.

This course will provide you with a variety of skills that will equip you for your transition into the world of work. You'll be able to hone your reading, written and listening skills by examining a selection of authentic written and audio-visual texts on various themes and topics. You'll also develop transferable global workplace skills such as being able to spot global trends, which will give you a competitive edge to work in various international organisations. Alongside this you'll acquire independence, self-motivation and excellent critical analysis skills which will help you both in your professional and personal life. Our graduates continue to be recruited by firms based in Spain or Latin America within industry, media and the education sectors.
