Main entry requirements
AAB in any subjects excluding General Studies and Critical Thinking. For Biology, Chemistry and Physics A levels, we require a pass in the practical element.
AAB in any subject at Advanced Higher. Maths and Physics required at National 5 grade B if not offered at Higher. Where a candidate bypasses the assessment for National 5 qualifications, a minimum of C at Higher Maths or Physics is required.
DDD in an engineering or science discipline.
Mathematics or Mathematical Studies and Physics at Standard Level grade 5.

Want to study electrical and electronic engineering at Newcastle but don't meet the entry requirements? Take a foundation year to develop the knowledge you need to progress to one of our three-year electrical and electronic engineering BEng degrees. You will study topics such as foundation mathematics, applied mechanics and material science.
Foundation year (stage 0): Students take just over 1/2 their modules in mathematics, mechanical sciences and applied mechanics; the remainder of the modules are assigned from a range of engineering subjects and include a project, as well as laboratory work related to the engineering programme they wish to study.
