Agricultural technology

This unique course has been developed following consultation with local and national representatives from industry. It will consider the management of a wide range of farming systems in an applied, 'hands-­on' context with an emphasis on adaptive technologies including precision farming methods. This course is designed to enable students to evaluate and apply the principles of agricultural technologies to a real world context in addition to following a traditional agricultural production programme. It will develop the knowledge, understanding and applied skills required to work in the agricultural industry at a consultancy, research or managerial level. Students will develop and adopt new and existing technologies, products and services to increase productivity and thereby contribute to global food security and international development.

Modules

Subjects are studied in discrete modules, allowing you to progress through the qualifications on a full or part-time basis at a pace of your choosing. You can choose from a range of optional modules to customise your learning experience. As one might expect, a diverse range of topics are available to study including Advances in Animal Science Technologies, Precision Farming, Sustainable Crop Production, Farm Business Management, Agricultural Engineering Technology and Design and Global Food Security. You will also complete an individual research project on a topic of your choice.
