Pass Access to HE Diploma with 60 Credits overall including 45 at Level 3. Please obtain at least 18 Distinctions and 21 Merits and 15 credits at Level 2.

We consider applicants offering Pre-U Principal Subjects or a combination of the Pre-U and A levels, provided a minimum of three subjects overall are taken. We recognise the benefit of the Global Perspectives and Research (GPR) course in developing independent study and research skills. While we would consider this as evidence of motivation to study a specific subject in more depth, we do not generally include it as part of our offer conditions. This is a multidisciplinary, broad-based building design course focusing on the technical and managerial aspects of architectural design and construction project management. It is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).This course was developed to meet the growing need for integration of design and construction in the industry, and it focuses on the technical and managerial aspects of architectural design and construction project management. The course prepares its graduates for a wide range of career paths in the construction industry including Design Co-ordination and Management, and Project Management in multidisciplinary Design and Build organizations, consulting, and contracting firms. It is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Building.Students on the course develop knowledge in the areas of building design, building performance, and project management. They acquire an understanding of the process and the technical aspects of building design and the management of construction projects. The main skills developed throughout the course are design and management skills. This is complemented by transferable skills such as: communication and presentation, team-working, and Information Technology.Teaching is by a combination of lectures, tutorials, seminars and design studios, with field work and site visits as appropriate.

Modules

In year 1 you will have the opportunity to study modules in areas such as structural design, building materials and construction in addition to economics and law.

In year 2 you will have the opportunity to study modules in areas such as health and safety, 3D CAD modelling and sustainable building design.

In your third year you'll undertake an optional professional placement, or study abroad.

In the final year you will have the opportunity to study modules in areas such as Mechanical Services, Construction Economics and Construction Contracts in addition to the Research Dissertation.

What do graduate employment figures really tell you?

Architecture had a difficult time a few years back during the great recession, but those days are over and the degree is in demand as house building and infrastructure have increased in importance. Most working architects secure jobs in the architecture industry, more usually starting as assistants rather than full-blown architects or chartered technicians. Some, however, move into management, design or marketing roles, where they find their planning, design and project management skills are very welcome. Nearly half the architecture-related jobs last year were in London or the South-East, and this group are rather more likely than average to find their jobs through personal contacts, so polish your networking skills, or see if you can get work experience if you want to succeed as an architect.
