It is not just about understanding the past, but about looking beneath the surface of our world and coming to understand the forces which shape it, from economic and social evolution to the interaction of individuals and cultures. Keeleâ??s historians have a world-class expertise in a wide range of fields, from Anglo-Saxon Britain to 20th-Century Africa, from religion to women's politics. They share a genuine passion for their subject and the continual mission of exploration and explanation it involves. Human Resource Management is a multidisciplinary subject area that is concerned with the world of work. As most peopleâ??s adult lives revolve around working it is important to understand how jobs are regulated and what the effects are on peopleâ??s experience of employment. HRM deals with the complex issues involved in the employment relationship from an economic, legal, political and social perspective. It provides essential knowledge for the management and experience of work at national, European and international level. Areas like work organisation, pay, discrimination, recruitment and selection, performance, development, national and global labour regulation and industrial relations are the main focus of study.

History is a very popular subject – in 2012, nearly 11,000 UK students graduated in a history-related course. Obviously, there aren't 11,000 jobs as historians available every year, but history is a good, flexible degree that allows graduates to go into a wide range of different jobs. Consequently, history graduates have an unemployment rate comparable to the national graduate average. Many – probably most – jobs for graduates don't ask for a particular degree to go into them and history graduates are well set to take advantage. That's why so many go into jobs in the finance industry, management and sales and marketing. Around one in five history graduates went into further study last year – only law saw more graduates continue on to study. History and teaching were the most popular further study subjects for history graduates, but law, journalism, politics and museum studies were also popular postgraduate courses.
