At Keele, studying a combined honours degree will include some modules from both of the single honours degrees. In this case, your programme will be made up of a combination of modules from both Business Management and Human Geography.

Business Management and Human Geography allows you to develop your understanding of the way humans relate to the environment alongside the study of various aspects of business such as organisational behaviour, strategy and operations. The course challenges you to reflect critically on what you learn about
business and to understand the applications and possibilities Human Geography provides in solving problems, creating wealth and improving quality of life. You will focus on independent thinking and will examine where business comes into contact with social-scientific and philosophical disciplines. You’ll collect and analyse spatial, social and environmental data, and become familiar with industry standard GIS software for analysing, visualising and integrating that data. Fieldwork is an integral component of the course and there are no cost options for our overseas field trips. You will also have opportunities to enhance your employability by studying abroad or taking a placement year between years two and three of your studies.

You’ll develop a wide range of skills with your interdisciplinary perspectives. These will include problem-solving and the ability to research, evaluate and synthesise information from diverse sources. All of these transferable skills are highly valued by employers. You will also develop a suite of subject-specific skills, including the ability to manipulate, analyse and present spatial data using industry standard GIS software. These skills are in high demand from government, environmental agencies, insurance companies and property developers. As an example, some of our graduates have entered occupations including planning and development surveyor, logistics manager, airport environmental technician, town planner, international development worker, advertising and marketing. The course also provides an ideal training for postgraduate study.
