Must include one of Health & Social Care, Human Biology, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Applied Science, Psychology or Social Science at Grade B Subjects excluded - General Studies, Critical Thinking and Extended Project A maximum of three subjects are considered. Other 6-unit qualifications can be considered in lieu of one or two A-level subjects.

60 credits overall. Minimum of 45 credits at level 3. The remaining 15 credits can be taken at either level 2 or 3. Within the level 3 credits, a minimum of 24 must be achieved at merit or distinction including 18 in science or health subjects. Must have Mathematics and English Language GCSE at 4 or equivalent prior to application. Must be in a Health and Social Care or Science related pathway subject excluded Non Health & Social Care or Science Pathways. GCSE equivalents only from Access Courses achieved prior to 2014, except for 2 Year Part Time Courses started within the 12/13 academic year. 12 Credits must be achieved at Level 2 + and certificate must state 'GCSE Equivalent. GCSE science is not required for Access students.

Are you interested in a rewarding career in perioperative care? Have you got excellent management skills and a passion for supporting others? Start your journey to becoming a vital part of the theatre team with our BSc (Hons) Operating Department Practice (ODP) course.

ODP's are a vital part of the operating theatre team, with their role varying from day to day. Working alongside surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses and healthcare support workers, ODPs ensure that every operation is as safe and effective as possible. While receiving continuous individual support and guidance, this course prepares you to become an independent practitioner within the operating department environment, able to respond to changes in health care needs and priorities.

You will learn and practice in a real-life operating theatre, within our state-of-the-art £71 million City South Campus and will benefit from excellent graduate employability rates. Successful completion of this course means you will be eligible to apply for registration as an ODP with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and can work within a multidisciplinary operating theatre team.

What do graduate employment figures really tell you?

This subject covers a group of related subjects, like audiology, speech therapy and degrees associated with language development. Speech therapy dominates and most graduates in this group go into jobs as speech therapists. About a fifth had studied audiology - there are not many audiology graduates each year in the UK, and they usually go on to jobs as — you guessed it — audiologists (mostly in hospitals but increasingly on the high street). Speech science or therapy graduates often go straight into speech therapy jobs when they graduate, although you don’t absolutely have to be a speech therapist if you take the course. There's a demand for graduates from all these courses and prospects are good.
