In Art and/or Design, History, Geography, English/Languages Double award in Science or separate Science such as Physics, Biology or Chemistry Sociology, Philosophy, Psychology, Maths, Music excluding General Studies & Travel & Tourism A maximum of three subjects are considered. Other 6-unit qualifications can be considered in lieu of one or two A-level subjects.

In Art and/or Design, History, Geography, English/Languages Double award in Science or separate Science such as Physics, Biology or Chemistry Sociology, Philosophy, Psychology, Maths, Music excluding General Studies & Travel & Tourism Must be taken alongside A Levels, BTEC QCF and/or OCR Cambridge Technical, to total 88 points minimum.

60 credits overall - 15 credits at level 2 and 45 credits at level 3 with Merit in Construction, Planning, Built Environment subjects preferred but other subjects also considered. GCSE Mathematics and English Language at grade C or above or equivalent qualifications within access course must be obtained.

Can be considered along with a minimum of 2 of the following qualifications: A-levels, BTEC Subsidiary Diplomas/ OCR Cambridge Technical Diplomas. Can also be considered in combination with a BTEC extended diploma, art and design foundation diploma or UAL extended diploma to obtain 88 pts Must be in a topic related to the degree subject being applied for.

GCSE/National 4/National 5

grade 4 English language and Maths. Must have been achieved at the point of Enrolment. Applicants must have GCSE qualification. No other equivalencies are acceptable for home students.

Obtain a minimum of 24 points overall. For students who do not already hold a GCSE in Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above grade 5 in Maths (Standard Level) from the IB Diploma will be accepted. For students who do not already hold a GCSE in English Language at Grade C/4 or above Standard Level English Language (not literature) Group A English Group A - Grade 4 or above, OR English Group B - Grade 5 or above from the IB will be accepted. Students who do not complete the IB Diploma will be considered on the basis of their IB Certificates if they obtain a total of 11 points or above from three Higher Level Subjects and alongside other acceptable level 3 qualifications to meet 88 UCAS Tariff Points.

Pass the Irish Leaving Certificate with a minimum of 88 tariff points, achieved in four Higher level subjects.      This must include Maths and English Language taken at either Ordinary level (minimum grade O1-O4 (or A-C/A1-C3)) or Higher level (minimum grade H5/D1).

Architecture

The Foundation course provides an opportunity to explore the exciting world of contemporary design through various scales and develop creative solutions, encapsulating Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Interior Architecture and Design, and Product and Furniture Design.

It provides a supported learning environment to explore conceptual ideas through to detailed design, mapping and modelling and is assessed through mini design-focussed projects and a specialised final project in a chosen field.

The course is ideally suited to students who need to develop their design, drawing, technical and presentations skills before entering a BA course or for those who have not yet decided which specific design discipline or career to pursue.

Study in state-of-the-art studios, learn from experienced, research-active experts and make connections with over 100 industry partners with our BA (Hons) Architecture course. Validated by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and prescribed by Architects Registration Board (ARB) to give full exemption from the ARB / RIBA Part 1 examination, you will be based at our innovative Birmingham School of Architecture and Design.

With the diverse architecture of Birmingham as your initial inspiration, you'll focus on urban environment and look at neighbourhoods, cities, and regional and global networks. Industry connections in your second and third years help you foster direct links and contacts within practice, helping you to find work experience. We also work closely with RIBA West Midlands, the Midlands Architecture Centre (MADE), and Birmingham City Council.

From the first year onwards, you will begin to construct your own online webpage of work and projects, which can then be transformed into an online portfolio and/or CV.

Our recent RIBA Validation Board visit commended our links with professional practice and the supportive learning community we offer. We were also commended for our flexible approach to learning, with strong support for part-time students. We're a boutique school, accepting only 65 students each year, creating an intimate learning environment and meaning you’ll get fantastic individual support.
