      Academic Experience

My course does involve a lot of contact and non-contact time. This helps you to think that you are getting a bit more for your money. Make the most of the lecturers and their knowledge as that is what you are paying for! Having a teaching placement every year is also god as it provides time to reflect on what is needed. Assignments are usually relevant and the feedback is usually detailed. This gives you points to improve on for the next piece of work.

      Everyday expenses

The food available in the restaurant of G-block is really good value and the menu changes every day so that it appeals to a range of people. There is also a lot of food shops and restaurants along the high street and in the Arndale shopping centre which is just across the road. The careers centre post adverts for work, although I cannot personally comment as I did not apply for any work whilst at University. Book costs can sometimes be quite expensive, however past students are happy to sell their second hand books on at a good price and it is possible to buy second hand or earlier editions of the book, which are still really useful! Transport to the University was quite restrictive as I was travelling from London. There are some discounts available on some bus and train services, e.g. 16-25 railcard and presenting a student card, although this is not much good for people that have early morning lectures as these cannot be used until after 10! Good transport links to other local areas such as Dunstable and there is a service provided to allow students to commute to other campuses, but these tend to come either once every half an hour or once an hour, which is a bit of a nuisance.

      The downside

Whilst there is a huge range to do socially, academically I feel it can sometimes be a bit lacking, which isn't great as you go there to learn. THe lecturers are nice, passionate want you to learn, but sometimes it can feel as if they just talk off of a powerpoint. I think all an all it's a good university, and I love being there. But I've been dissapointed in many aspects I thought Bedfordshire excelled in.

League table rankings

Here's where this university ranks in the three main league tables (where available), which are calculated using a combination of stats that they each weight in different ways. They’re a handy guide but don’t offer the full picture – just because a university is top (or bottom) of the league tables doesn’t mean it is (or isn’t) the right choice for you.
