Fine Art as a course has been really enjoyable. The tutors are very supportive and lend extra help to students which seem to struggle. The course is self-directed an independent so tutees are expected to be that way, but there is plenty of one on one time with tutors and extra help is given in the form of peer led workshops and schemes which are student led, like the buddy scheme.
The workload is spread evenly throughout the year, and the assignments are clearly explained and support is given throughout the process of completion. The modules anticipate opportunity for self-directed learning and this is the challenging part for students, but the most rewarding too.
Feedback is given in the form of quarterly one-to-one seminars, but you can also get feedback from self-organised tutorials with guest artists, or other tutors. There is no need to stick to your own personal tutor if you feel as though another artist tutor could be more helpful or knowledgable with the work you're trying to achieve.
The specific technicians in areas such as equipment hire (cameras/projectors/monitors/dvd players) and in tool use (woodwork/ceramics/metalwork/printmaking) are really helpful and enjoy working with students.
