On my course we have very little teaching in the first year, only about 4 or 5 2-3 hour lectures a week. but that is just for the first year. the content varies from extremely useful and packed giving you the information you need to do the work, to some lectures that just seem to be a bit of a waste of time. most of my coursework was do it in your own time stuff. i had to do little bits of work and then put it all together in a portfolio. there wasn't any essays, it was mostly make something either in real life of virtually. feedback from tutors can be great but also has times where you are really fighting to know what you are doing right and wrong, especially during the making process, they seem to like to wait to the end and then tell you that it was all wrong. the faculty on my course is like one big family, i cannot fault them they all speak to each other and you can go speak to them about anything and it will be sorted.
